Lunar Rhythm Gardens is your local Community Supported and Community Shared Agriculture (CSA) Farm.
We proudly serve Durham Region and the Kawarthas including Port Perry, Lindsay, and Bowmanville.
What is a CSA?
Community Shared Agriculture is a concept in which the consumers get a variety of high quality, fresh vegetables at an affordable price, while supporting small scale, environmentally and community oriented food production.
CSA is a way to experience directly how food is grown. CSA is also a way for people to re-establish a social community around food – a mutually beneficial partnership of farmers and members.
CSA is also a way to keep local money in the local community and reduce your environmental footprint.
The CSA model is a shared risk model. The farmer works hard to ensure a bountiful harvest and plants a large variety of vegetables, however sometimes weather, disease, or pests will affect the harvest. Members agree to share this risk with the farmer. This provides security to the farmer and the consumer.
Summer CSA – How does it work?
In order for farmers to plan to grow the appropriate amount of vegetables for their share members, members need to sign up with our Summer CSA Registration Form-2011.pdf and pay their deposit (“seed money”, literally) for a share in the seasons veggies as soon as possible in the New Year.
After purchasing a share members receive a basket of fresh locally grown vegetables once a week during the growing season, and a real connection to their food and farmer. The program is intended to run for 18 weeks from mid-June to late October.
Our vegetables contain:
- NO pesticides
- NO herbicides
- NO fungicides
- NO synthetic fertilizers
And we provide you with great recipes to prepare your fresh vegetables.
We welcome your involvement in the garden, and invite our members to come out to the farm.
We also offer naturally raised meats including naturally raised pork, beef, chickens, and turkeys – free of growth hormones and government inspected. We custom cut to your specification. Please view the various products we offer.
Full Farm Share:
A full share feeds from 2 adults to a family of 4 depending on how many vegetables you eat. The cost is 525$* annually.

A half share of veggies feeds up to 2 adults, or a single vegetarian. The cost is 290$.* Here is what a half share bounty included last year in printable PDF format, in case you are curious. Although, each seasons bounty will vary depending on weather, and pest pressures.
