Seems like we are on the verge of a few crops being ready! The peas are a good size, they just need to fill in a bit. The tomatoes are on the vine – just need a bit more ripening time:
The corn is also getting tall enough that we had to weed it ourselves, instead of getting the horses out:
We did get the horses out to move the grass fed chicken house, though. We didn’t realize how much Lenny and Mr. Gray had changed until we asked them to do a slow and steady pull. When we got them last year they would have had no problem going slow; now they seem to have forgotten about slow! They’ve learned some tricks from Calvin and Peg, I guess…
Our next batch of chickens will arrive this week – let us know if you would like a few for your freezer.
We are now accepting registrations for the 2014 Winter CSA! Last year we included some frozen produce, as well as soaps and dried herbs. This year we hope to have more frozen fruit, preserves and a greater selection of storage veggies outside of the usual roots (fingers crossed). The winter share starts after Thanksgiving and continues to mid January. Get in touch to reserve your spot!
