Until We Meet Again…

Miscellaneous

Well, it’s finally here: the last week of the 2014 Summer CSA.  What a summer it has been – we’ve had a great season!  Of course the better part of our success is the result of a great team, although Mother Nature had a hand in it too.  One more of the team will be leaving us this week – and we say good bye to our CSA members too, but hopefully not for long!

This week I took a few photos in the garden to show how things are changing.  We have a veritable infestation of birds in our sunflowers!  The chickadees are the most common, closely followed by the blue jays.

In this picture, you can see our girls (and one boy) enjoying the last bit of grass this season.  The tree colours are beautiful this year!  The next time we are out in that bush will likely be to make maple syrup next spring…

And I had to share this picture – although it is unrelated.  This hen made her way into the greenhouse during the Farm Fest tours last Saturday.  My inability to chase her out made for some light entertainment for a couple of visitors.  She was determined!

There are still spots available for the Winter CSA, which begins Saturday, October 26th.  And don’t forget to sign-up by October 31st to get the Early Bird discount on the 2014 Summer CSA!  Check out our Facebook page for occasional blog posts and updates.
